FYI: LiveJournal is getting rid of the "Basic" (no ads) account.

Everyone who has a free account now still has a free account. However, everyone who chooses to create a new LJ will have to choose between Paid and Plus (with ads). brad's journal goes into a good description of this and also relates how he feels about it.

*shrug* I went to a plus account ages ago (when it came out, I believe), because I wanted the cool features. I don't even notice the ads anymore.

I can see why it would definitely annoy people though.
