Warning: Beaver pictures under the cut.  Dead beaver.

So it could get to the middle line.  :-(

Close up of the tail.  To prove it really was a beaver.

It looks like I was posing with the trophy animal I just killed, but I swear we didn't kill the beaver!

How did the beaver get to the edge of the road, you ask?

Dustin poked (okay, rolled) the beaver to the sidelines.  We didn't want it to get run over anymore (even though it was dead), and since a lot of animals are scavengers and eat roadkill, I didn't want any other animals to have to fight traffic for their food.  Tis the circle of life.  It's sad this beaver died, but at least he'll provide lots of other animals with food.

Yes, that beaver is freakin' huge.  Not quite bear size, but nearly the size of my 120 pound dog's torso.

And then we had to get the truck unstuck.  lol.  Luckily, Dad came (we weren't too far from the house) with chains and they hooked up Dustin's truck to Dad's Durango and pulled him out.  Muddy grass can be a bitch to get out of!

We went back to the house to help Dad put away the tools and they bonded over powerwinches and creative theories on how to get vehicles out of the mud.  Weirdos.  I just marveled at my beaver pics.

My brother had that same poster. lol

I have a pair of rubber gloves in my car that I use just for picking up roadkill. Unfortunately, we were in Dustin's truck. So he used a stick.
