1. For all of those that believe I attacked kurtbatz and was out of line, I think you should stop and remember there are always two sides to every story. There are also, of course, two livejournals to every story. For more information on his personal attacks on me, please see his livejournal. Especially such comments from him like: "I'm amazed you managed to keep a conversation with that numbskull going for that long. I've seen braindead molluscs with more social grace than her. Like I said, she's an arrogant, self-important numbskull, who feels everything has to be 'her way or the highway' and noone elses efforts at helping bats are worth a damn, so she has to run them into the ground to improve her own sense of well being. Heck, I bet she hasn't stepped up and walked away from the computer screen for the last year or so. People are SO brave and clever when they've got a keyboard to hide behind."
Yes, there ARE two sides to every story, and it DOES take two people to fight. I don't deny ever throwing insults at him. But I do deny the fact that some people think he's completely innocent and only the "victim". After all, he hasn't been sitting quietly while this happens. In fact, several of his other "enemies" have stepped forward and said "I know what an ass he is, he over-reacted and did this shit to me, too" and "He's too over-dramatic and blowing this way out of proportion". Perhaps it's not my fault after all?
2. I never, ever said I was against Kurt's goals - to stop the selling of the bats on eBay. However, where we differ is in our views of HOW to succeed in those goals. He believes in a petition to eBay, and I think that eBay is not the proper company to be petitioning to, because they have monetary gain from the selling and exploitation of bats and no authority over other auction sites, whereas a government agency has the authority to enact and enforce such a rule, and is strictly thinking as an animal welfare organization. My reasons behind WHY I believe this are in my post. Also, in my post, I say that I applaud his efforts, and I don't think that anyone is doing any harm by signing the petition. I just don't think it's accomplishing anything, either.
3. I would also like to mention that Kurt is the one who has made this into some dramatic hoopla. I posted my *personal* views on his petition in my *personal* journal. Kurt decided to read my lj and post the link in numerous sites to make it such a huge deal. Had he never read my lj, he would have never have known I don't agree with the way he's doing his petition. He was looking for a reason to fight. Because of this, I think it's immature to spread it around and make it a community issue in several communities, when in reality, it has nothing to do with the community at all. Kurt was just trying to get attention and have a little pity party because someone disagreed with him.
4. I don't think Kurtbatz should stop petitioning and calling government officials in Thailand and all the other stuff he does. He's not doing any harm, and maybe one day he'll go in a direction that will actually succeed in getting some great laws/rules/regulations passed in the name of bat conservation and preservation. I never said he should stop in his efforts, but he should just direct them to another source.
5. Believe it or not, proposals and plans are shot down, critiqued, and otherwise dismembered all the time. In any business, there will be people above you whom you have to approve things with before you can continue working on a project, plan, or whatever. During that approval process, you may have to stand before a board of directors and prove to them that your plan is sound and will work. It is their job to critique it, and it is their job to figure out if it will not work. If it happens in the business world, it can happen in my own lj. His plan is not sound, and it will not work. Several of his Krusaders have even mentioned the fact that it's hopeless in several comments to me. If everyone is thinking it, I can say it aloud. Kurt, your plan is dumb and it will not work. The end.
6. I am not a hunter. Those who took my sentence of "And that, my friends, is exactly why it's perfectly legal for me to kill whatever animal I choose, and sell it on eBay." and interpreted it to mean I kill all animals (or any animals) for fun is misreading the quote and taking it out of context from the rest of the post. Underneath that, I wrote "Not like I would, but, ya know...I still have the right to", to make the point that while I WOULD not hunt or kill any random animal I want to, the law, as it stands right now, means I COULD. For further clarification, the only animals I have killed to date are: 4 bats, 1 possum, and 1 raccoon. The bats all had internal injuries and were near death (one caught in the grille of a car, one caught in a garage door, and two caught by cats). The possum was poisioned by Home Depot by rat poision and was too far into death for me to use charcoal on him, and the raccoon had rabies. My point of the taken-out-of-context quote was to show that the LAW is what needs to change, not a company that gets financial benefits from the selling.
7. I will leave comments enabled to this post because I welcome them. However, comments will be screened and I will only reply and unscreen those comments that are not solely for the purpose of insulting or attacking me. Constructive criticism is good, and I welcome that.
