Something a bit more entertaining

If you have an e-mail address, you've undoubtedly gotten spam from someone in Nigeria who asks for your bank account number so they can deposit a large sum of money into it because the heirs of the money have all died in some freak accident. I've always wondered what happens if you write back, so I tried it out one day.

And I was thisclose to scamming the scammer.

The first e-mail I ever got from the spammer:
This is Godswill Kwame.writing to you once again after a long time.Though i could not offer to you the complete 30% as promised earlier due to your fear to assist me 100% financially because of your doubt and so much complaint about your bad encounter previously which made you loose some money in the past transaction without achieving anything in return.,I must first of all thank you for your acceptance to help me claim my inheritance when i was really in need and the little money you invested during the process. It is a thing of joy to inform you that finally, I have succeeded in getting the fund transferred at Long last.

Hope this mail find you in an excellent condition of health even though you did not do much for me but I'm happy to inform you about my success in getting those funds transferred under the co-operation of a new partner from London UK.

Presently I'm in London for investment projects with my own share of the total sum. Though i tried to reach you before i left for London but all effort prove abortive due to the fact that i lost your contact.Though it was by chance that i came in contact with your e-mail address today and have decided to contact you immediately.

Just to let you know that I didn't forget you're past efforts and attempts to assist me in transferring those funds which later failed some how due to one or two reasons but all the same God in his infinite mercies has done it for me.

I have compensated you with the sum of $400.000, (Four hundred thousand us dollars).

Well, i am not disputing that whatever your findings may be either if is true or false. all i have to tell you is that you can assume whatever you may assume. i have told you what the Fedex courier service agent here in Ghana where i live has accepted to register officially your money order and to be able to delivers to your receiving address as you have provided without any problem.So if you think you can stay there in your country to tell me what the charges here in Ghana West Africa is believe you me i am not a party to such assumption Or do you want to loose your money so that i will be the one to be blamed.

Bwahaha! This is awesome! Rob collects these scam emails (seriously, he has a whole folder full of them!) because he thinks they're so funny... he's never replied to one though!

There used to be a website called Busted Up Cowgirl (which was mainly a horse website) & the owner used to do this all the time, particularly with the scam emails she would receive regarding horse sales (similar method, but instead of the email saying there was an inheritence, it was an email offering to buy a horse for an insane amount of money... except that they needed a large chunk of money from her first). She took the site down a couple of years ago, which is a shame, since it was one of my favourite sites!

Very funny. I've seen this done before and the scammers always seem to end up nearly getting scammed themselves just before they stop responding. Obviously they're as clueless as they think we are.

I would have loved to have got this one and responded along the lines of 'I'm in London! I could meet you and you could hand me the money order!'
