Tomorrow, I has jurey doody.

Our software releases on Thursday, so this is The Worst Time to be away from work. My jury duty status went from "on standby" to "all jurors please report at 8:00 a.m.". I know it's my civic duty and all, but I don't want to mess with this right now- it's not like by going, I don't have to work. The work still has to get done; my supervisor is going to try to pick up some of it, but I expect to work tomorrow night after coming home from court, as well. And hopefully I'll only have to go in tomorrow and won't get called to continue. Blah.

How to get out of jury duty:

in no particular order
- say that you know one of the lawyers involved in the case
- say you know someone involved in the case
- say you have heard something in the media about it
- say you have already made up your mind about the person's guilt
- say you have a family member who works in whatever industry they ask about
- might work if you say you know me, a law student

If all else fails, bring a bible and read it while waiting.

I didn't even get that far. I just sat in the GIANT room with about 350 other people. People were called in groups of 50 or 20 to go into a courtroom and begin the jury selection process. By 2 p.m., there were only about 50 of us left. At 2:30, they made an announcement saying that the trial we were being held for has just settled, so there's no need for us and we can leave.

I was there from 7:30 a.m. till 2:30 p.m., just sitting in a room and reading. And dozing off sporadically. SO BORING.

At least you didn't get held over for tomorrow. :)

Also, some courts won't alow you to bring anything to read or eat. Talk about torture.

Ooh, yeah, I did hear a little bit about him last year (or two years ago?). Very scary man. I'm so glad I didn't get picked to be on a trial- if it was something like that, I would have had many nightmares.

That definetly blows. :(

On a totally different note, the exact picture above is the reason why I'm balking at giving Spikey a bath. His fur is bugging him these days, but I really don't need a pissed off wet cat running rampant through my house.

Ha ha. When I worked at the vet's office, I would have to give cats a bath from time to time. It sucked. They don't like it too much.
