eohartman: (Married!)

At my brother's wedding yesterday, as I was walking down the aisle and standing up there as a bridesmaid, I was reminded of how it felt to walk down that aisle just a year ago. I walked down the aisle yesterday with a lot more wisdom, patience, and love than I had a year ago. And I hope that'll increase as we spend more years together.

One year ago today, I married the man of my dreams. It's been a tough year and we've certainly lived out the saying that "the first year is the hardest," but I have hope that we'll make it. Through all our medical issues, busy schedules, being pulled all over the place literally by visiting people and figuratively by difficult family members, we've managed to make it through the first year. With a lot of patience, love, kindness, and commitment, we haven't given up yet. May we have many anniversaries together in the future.

Here's to hoping the year-old wedding cake is at least somewhat edible. ;-)

ETA: We just had a bite of the wedding cake and surprisingly, it was still pretty good! The icing was just as fluffy and yummy as it was a year ago. I think that's probably due to the face that it was sealed in two layers of wax paper, two layers of saran wrap, three layers of foil, in a box, in our deep freeze for the past year. Note to self: Thank Mom for wrapping cake so tight.

Happy anniversary!! (For some reason, I kept thinking that you had been married on the 18th, which made no sense, because I took the GACE that day).

Can't believe it's been a year already!

I'm interested to see how your cake was. Ours was TERRIBLE! But Chris did get me back by asking me if I thought it smelled funny and smearing it across my face.

Happy Anniversary! I'm so sorry your first year as husband and wife has been so difficult - here's to an anniversary celebration to turn things around and grow in love, truth, respect, and faith in the next year, and those beyond.

Ha ha. Go Chris! One of the pictures that I love most from your wedding was taken *right* before you smashed it in his face. You had this look of evil in your eyes. It was priceless.

It worked out pretty well for us (check the edit to this post). I think it's because my mom wrapped it up so tight!

I've never heard of keeping the cake for your anniversary. The tradition I grew up with was to keep the first tier to use as a christening cake for your first born.
