At my brother's wedding yesterday, as I was walking down the aisle and standing up there as a bridesmaid, I was reminded of how it felt to walk down that aisle just a year ago. I walked down the aisle yesterday with a lot more wisdom, patience, and love than I had a year ago. And I hope that'll increase as we spend more years together.
One year ago today, I married the man of my dreams. It's been a tough year and we've certainly lived out the saying that "the first year is the hardest," but I have hope that we'll make it. Through all our medical issues, busy schedules, being pulled all over the place literally by visiting people and figuratively by difficult family members, we've managed to make it through the first year. With a lot of patience, love, kindness, and commitment, we haven't given up yet. May we have many anniversaries together in the future.
Here's to hoping the year-old wedding cake is at least somewhat edible. ;-)
ETA: We just had a bite of the wedding cake and surprisingly, it was still pretty good! The icing was just as fluffy and yummy as it was a year ago. I think that's probably due to the face that it was sealed in two layers of wax paper, two layers of saran wrap, three layers of foil, in a box, in our deep freeze for the past year. Note to self: Thank Mom for wrapping cake so tight.
