My dad is having knee replacement surgery tomorrow. This is really exciting because at 51 years old, he's pretty much worn out his current set o' knees after jumping off the tractor when he rolled it over, running up and down Stone Mountain with bricks in a backpack, jumping on the trampoline with me for many years, etc. He's getting his left knee replaced with a titanium knee tomorrow and his right knee will be done later this year, once he recovers from round one. Despite my attempt to slip the orthopedic surgeon $50, he won't take pictures of the surgery, nor will he save my dad's kneecap for us. What a buzz-kill.

Anyhow, it's exciting but it's also a bit nerve-wracking. Anything that involves a loved one going under general anesthesia spikes up my anxiety, regardless of how major or minor the surgery may be. So if everyone could pray/sacrifice virgins/send good wishes/think good thoughts/cross your fingers for my dad tomorrow, that would be lovely. My mom will need the well wishes, too, as she'll be staying on and off at the hospital this week until my dad is released from good old Eastside Medical (I <3 that place) on Friday or Saturday.

The good news is that this should solve a lot of the problems my dad has been having over the past few years, and he'll be able to walk normally again instead of hobbling around. I have a lot of faith in the orthopeadic surgeon (even though he won't take pictures for me) because he's been a long-time doctor for many of my family members and he said that two days after surgery, my dad could jump out of a two story window and not break his knee. He might break other things, but the doc claims the knee will be just fine... :-)
