Exotic Animals Rescued from Fire
Firefighters find Animals in Burning Home
My wildlife rehabber friend's house burned down today. Thank God she, and all but one of her animals, are okay. One raccoon that was in the garage died. Debbie had just gotten him in last night. He was in a cage and couldn't escape. It's so sad to think about. But at least the others survived. I called Debbie (not the Debbie whose house burned down, but another rehabber Debbie) to see if there's anything I can do. Luckily the exotic vet we work with is taking in most of the animals.
It's so scary, though. I always try and have an evacuation plan for my wildlife. Unfortunately I know that in a real emergency, it's probably impossible to save them. :-(
