Years past: 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013

1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?
I successfully raised a toddler to his second birthday.
I celebrated my 8th wedding anniversary.
I watched the bomb squad and air force come out to our house to detonate a civil war era cannon ball that we found on the farm.
I bought an engine for my car.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really do new year's resolutions, so I didn't have any to break nor do I have any to make. [Same as last year's.]

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Several online friends had babies, which was exciting!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. Dustin's former coworker, Sid, passed away from a lung infection in May. He had surivived an awful lung infection and double-lung transplant nearly two years prior, so we all thought he was invincible. His death was pretty jarring to everyone in the IBM family.

5. What countries did you visit?
We stayed firmly planted in the United States this year. We traveled to such far-away lands as the neighboring states of North Carolina and Florida. Ha.

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
A second child! :-)

7. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

May 18 - Sid died.
July 15 - positive pregnancy test!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting knocked up again?

9. What was your biggest failure?

Letting my temper get the best of me sometimes.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Thankfully, no injuries. Depending upon your definition of hyperemesis gravidarum, I may or may not have it (I'm not losing weight, but I throw up 10 times a day). Thankfully, the third prescription medication I've been put on seems to be doing the trick. But unfortunately, the nausea hasn't subsided the further I've gotten along in the pregnancy - I'm 30 weeks and still have to take it in order to stop throwing up. :-(

11. What was the best thing you bought?

An engine for my car - not what I wanted to spend money on, but a necessary expense.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Everyone that I like.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Congress and their lack of getting anything done.

14. Where did most of your (discretionary) money go?

We had to buy a new engine for my car in September. Necessary expense, but that $6,000 really sucked.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Getting pregnant again!

16. What song will always remind you of 2014?

"Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) Happier or sadder? Happier!
b) Thinner or fatter? Fatter, but for good reason - I'm pregnant!
c) Richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleep. Spend time with friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Allow negative thoughts to consume my brain. I need to be more positive.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve, we went to church and then to Christin and Ross' Christmas Eve party. Then I stayed up way too late trying to put a trampoline together for Toby, but ultimately failed. Thankfully, there were other toys for him to enjoy on Christmas morning. After we opened presents on Christmas morning, we went to my parents' house and had breakfast with them and opened up more presents. It was really fun!

21. Did you fall in love in 2014?

Over and over again. <3

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
NCIS, NCIS LA, Modern Family.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope.

25. What was the best book you read?
I hardly read any books this year and I can't remember a particular one that stuck out.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
This was clearly a boring year for me, as I don't think I discovered any new bands.

27. What did you want and get?

A fetus!

28. What did you want and not get?
More sleep.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
There were movies?

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 31! That was the weekend we discovered that my car needed a new engine, so to cheer myself up, I publicly announced the pregnancy and mowed the fields with the antique John Deere tractor.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If Toby hadn't gotten sick as often as he did.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
For the first half: "Hey, it's clean!"
For the second half: "Hey, it fits over my growing belly!"

33. What kept you sane?
My friends and family. My mommy tribe.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't think anyone really struck a chord with me this year.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

The injustices that minorities (specifically black people) encounter. Mike Brown and Eric Garner's deaths were unneccessary and senseless. :-/

36. Who did you miss?

Everyone who wasn't here with me. Cop-out answer, I know.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I met Chrystal and her family IRL in the spring when they came to visit family in Atlanta. I met Emma in the fall when she came to Atlanta for a car seat event. I've also gained a lot of new Twitter/FB friends, which has been fun!

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
I continued to learn to let people make their own decisions and not get caught up in other people's drama.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

"Closing Time. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

40. Do you think 2015 will be a better year for you?
Yes! It will be incredible.
